Works are carried out progressively across multiple sites while keeping roads open to traffic wherever possible. The program supports the long-term reliability of key freight and commuter routes across Melbourne's western suburbs.

The Western Outer Ring Main is a major gas transmission pipeline project delivered by APA Group to strengthen gas supply capacity across Melbourne’s western and northern growth corridors.

The project involves the installation of approximately 51 kilometres of large-diameter gas pipeline connecting Plumpton to Wollert.

Works are being staged across multiple sections to minimise disruption to traffic, residents and existing infrastructure.

Extensive coordination is required with other utility owners given the scale and route length of the pipeline corridor.

New pedestrian and cyclist facilities, together with landscaping and public open space improvements, are also included in the upgrade. The project is being delivered in a highly constrained inner-urban environment alongside the Yarra River and existing road network.
