Melbourne Remand Centre Upgrade

The program is part of the government’s $1.8 billion investment to provide flexible prison capacity, deliver programs to break the cycle of reoffending and keep people out of prison.

The majority of expansion works will utilise prefabricated steel modular cells, delivered by truck and craned onto the construction sites. Building the cells offsite promotes the safety of construction workers, improves the cost and quality associated with the fabrication process and limits potential disruptions in working prisons, enabling a quicker construction time.

HCS is engaged on the project to provide Underground Service Locating services.
