HCS was selected by Seymour Whyte to provide Engineering Surveying Services to the Chandler Highway Upgrade project. Our roles in the project included Survey Management, Earthworks and survey for the new Chandler Highway Bridge.

The Upgrade:

  • widened Chandler Highway to 6 lanes
  • restored the Chandler Highway heritage bridge to a walking and cycling path and into its existing condition
  • upgraded the Heidelberg Road and Chandler Highway intersection
  • added new traffic lights at the Chandler Highway and Yarra Boulevard intersection
  • built safer cycling and walking paths connecting to the Main Yarra Trail
  • landscaped around the Yarra River
  • improved stormwater drainage and lighting.

HCS was engaged by WBHO to carry out the initial services investigation for design purposes, as well as providing Digital Engineering and Engineering Services to the project.

The Western Roads Upgrade will improve 8 main roads across the West. It will also repair and resurface 37 roads and strengthen seven structures, mostly bridges.

The project:

  • is a $1.8 billion investment to improve roads in the western suburbs
  • includes a 20-year maintenance contract, which guarantees the ongoing care of 260kms of road from Footscray to Werribee.
  • is being delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the Victorian Government and project consortium, Netflow

    HCS was engaged by the Canberra Metro Consortium to provide Engineering Surveying Services on the Canberra Light Rail Project.

    The light rail project will run from City to Gungahlin, along Northbourne Avenue and Flemington Road and will deliver high quality, reliable and frequent public transport down one of Canberra’s busiest corridors.

    The project will provide the following:

    • 12 km route
    • 6 minute peak service
    • 10-15 minute off peak
    • 13 stops
    • 14 light rail vehicles
    • 24 minute journey time
    • Same level boarding at all stops
    • 2 dedicated wheelchair spaces
    • Capacity of more than 200 people

    HCS was awarded the Engineering Surveying Services contract by Lend Lease for the $250 million Tullamarine Freeway upgrade between Melbourne Airport and Bulla Road. The works will involved widening and upgrading the freeway between Melbourne Airport and Melrose Drive. The reduction in congestion following the upgrade increased the capacity of the road corridor by up to 30 per cent.

    Works involved construction of an additional lane in each direction along the section, a major upgrade to the Mickleham Road interchange, and reconstruction and widening of the English Street bridge to improve access to Essendon Fields.

    HCS was subcontracted for Engineering Surveying Services by York Civil and OHL Construction Pacific after they were awarded the contract to complete the Section 1 of the upgrade, which spans Woolgoolga to Halfway Creek. The contract is for the upgrade of the section of HW10 Pacific Highway, situated between two other upgraded sections of the pacific highway: Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade to the south and Halfway Creek upgrade to the north.
