Chandler Highway Upgrade

HCS has been selected by Seymour Whyte to provide Engineering Surveying Services to the Chandler Highway Upgrade project. This project is the second project in 2 years that Seymour Whyte has engaged our professional services on a major road project.

The project will improve traffic flow and provide a smoother journey between Melbourne’s inner east, south and north. This $110 million upgrade includes widening Chandler Highway and building a second bridge next to the existing bridge.

The upgrade consists of:

  • widening Chandler Highway to six lanes
  • building a new bridge to the west of the existing bridge
  • upgrading the Heidelberg Road and Chandler Highway intersection
  • upgrading the Yarra Boulevard/Guide Dogs Victoria and Chandler Highway intersection
  • installing new traffic lights at the Chandler Highway and Yarra Bend intersection
  • turning the original 126-year-old bridge into a walking and cycling path
  • building safer bicycle and pedestrian paths that connect to the Main Yarra Trail
  • landscaping around the Yarra River
  • improving stormwater drainage and lighting.
